Traffic stop for expired registration leads to weapon and drug charge for Coralville man

Hunter 11/23/25 A Coralville man was arrested Friday night after he was allegedly found to be illegally possessing a handgun. Officers made a stop on a 2016 Honda HRV near the intersection of Fairview Lane and Sugar Creek in North Liberty at 9:35pm for an expired registration.  28-year-old Brandon GIlliams of Coral Court was a passenger in the vehicle, and a strong odor of marijuana was detected upon contact.
