Rich in cash, Japan automaker Toyota builds a city to test futuristic mobility

Japanese automaker Toyota is building a $10 billion city called Woven City near Mount Fuji to test autonomous vehicles, robotics, and artificial intelligence in everyday living.
The first phase of construction spanning around 500,000 square feet has been completed, with underground passages for autonomous vehicle movement and no human residents yet.
Workers from Toyota and partner companies like Nissin and Daikin will be the first 100 residents, dubbed 'weavers', to test the futuristic living concept.
