Valentina González's family lawyer filed a request for reopening the investigation, after the main man of interest was convicted for carrying drugs. This is Felipe Olivares Ossio, who will have to pay a fine of 3 UTM after being declared the perpetrator of the crime on the same day of the death of the lawyer at the El Duende Motel in Quintero, which occurred on July 30, 2022. Cynthia Pérez, a plaintiff lawyer in this case, filed formal requests for reopening with the Quintero Prosecutor's Office and the Regional Prosecutor's Office in two criminal cases for homicide and obstruction of the investigation, both of which were closed following decisions not to persevere.
