Traeen Out of Tour De France After Losing Yellow Jersey

Uno-X Mobility said the Norwegian was diagnosed with a concussion and multiple rib fractures after the descent crash.

  • After two days in the yellow jersey, Uno-X Mobility rider Torstein Træen has officially withdrawn from the 2026 Tour de France following a crash on the descent of the Col du Tourmalet during Thursday's sixth stage.
  • Træen secured the lead via a massive stage four breakaway but clipped wheels with teammate Anders Halland Johannessen on the Tourmalet descent, falling heavily on the mountain pass.
  • Although the Norwegian initially cleared a roadside concussion assessment, Uno-X Mobility medical staff later diagnosed him with a concussion and multiple rib fractures, ruling him out of stage seven.
  • "This is really not the ending we wanted for this yellow adventure," said team general manager Thor Hushovd, reflecting the team's pride in Træen's historic performance.
  • Tadej Pogačar of UAE Team Emirates-XRG, who took the yellow jersey on stage six, now leads the general classification as Træen's crash wiped out his 7:53 advantage.
