Toronto added the veteran right-hander for pitching depth as injuries hit its rotation and the club trails a Wild Card spot by three games, officials said.
- On Thursday, the Toronto Blue Jays signed 34-year-old pitcher Michael Lorenzen to a one-year contract, adding rotation depth ahead of their game against the Kansas City Royals.
- Amid injuries to starters Shane Bieber and Trey Yesavage, the Blue Jays are pursuing one of the final three American League Wild Card spots with a 65-69 record.
