Uganda: London Flight - Uganda Airlines Starts New Era
- On Sunday morning, Uganda Airlines commenced its inaugural non-stop service connecting Entebbe International Airport with London Gatwick, operating four times each week.
- The route revival followed a five-year revival of Uganda Airlines aimed at linking East Africa directly to key European and diaspora markets.
- The service uses an Airbus A330-800neo, marking the airline’s longest route at approximately 6,464 kilometers, with flights on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
- Officials highlighted that the new flight aligns with Uganda’s Vision 2040 economic objectives and is anticipated to boost trade, tourism, and investor engagement linking Uganda with the UK; Minister Katumba described the route as "a bridge connecting Uganda to one of the world’s foremost commercial and tourism centers."
- The new direct link is expected to boost Uganda’s GDP, promote exports like coffee and flowers, strengthen bilateral ties, and position the country as a rising regional aviation hub.
