NSE Lists at a Modest Premium of 0.8%
The Rs 22,569-crore offer drew 5.71 times bids, led by strong institutional demand, before shares closed 1% above the opening price.
On Thursday, September 24, 2026, the National Stock Exchange made its debut on the Bombay Stock Exchange , with shares opening at ₹1,800, a 0.8% premium over the IPO price of ₹1,785.
Following a decade-long regulatory overhang, the ₹22,569-crore IPO concluded Monday with nearly 6 times total subscription, resolving a major impediment to the exchange's public listing.
The issue attracted nearly ₹90,300 crore in total demand, with Qualified Institutional Buyers subscribing 12.68 times, non-institutional investors 6.55 times, and retail investors 1.39 times.
After opening slightly higher, NSE shares gained momentum during the session, rising about 1% from the opening level to close at ₹1,818 on the first day of trading.
NSE CEO Ashish Kumar Chauhan called the market "a signal of a well functioning society" at the listing ceremony, positioning the company as India's second-largest public issue after Hyundai Motor India.
