The Seaside Property Hotspot Where House Prices Are Rising Fastest in Britain
Coastal towns across Merseyside and Wales have emerged as the UK's fastest-growing property hotspots, defying a broader national slowdown in house price increases, according to new analysis from property website Rightmove.
Bootle in Merseyside leads the surge, with average asking prices climbing 11% over the past year to £141,680, yet prices remain well below the national average despite the town's growing appeal.
Crosby, Merseyside, saw prices rise 9% to £330,900, while Penarth, Wales, increased 8% to £433,081, making it the most expensive among the top-performing coastal locations analyzed.
Property expert Colleen Babcock said "demand for coastal homes remains resilient, even as overall price growth across the UK stays more modest," signaling sustained buyer interest despite broader market softness.
Approximately 80% of the roughly 100 seaside areas analyzed feature average asking prices below the £378,304 national figure, contrasting sharply with exclusive hotspots like Sandbanks, Poole, where prices reach £1.12 million.
