The population living near the military airbases in Payerne, Meiringen and Emmen will receive noise-resistant windows to reduce the noise pollution caused by the F-35A. Some 230 buildings are affected.
The F-35 is louder than the F/A-18. Therefore, the Air Force must improve noise abatement around the airfields in Payerne, Meiringen, and Emmen. The army announced the planned measures on Monday.
The new F-35 fighter jets require additional noise protection measures at the three military airfields of Payerne VD, Meiringen BE and Emmen LU.
