- Last week at the Game Awards, Crystal Dynamics announced two Tomb Raider games: Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis due next year and Tomb Raider: Catalyst set for 2027, both published by Amazon Game Studios.
- As part of the 30th anniversary next year, Crystal Dynamics framed the projects as a "love letter by fans, for fans" and aims to make Lara Croft a multimedia flagship with Amazon Prime Video, enabled by Fellowship Entertainment, Embracer subsidiary.
- Built from scratch on Unreal 5 engine, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is co-developed by Flying Wild Hog, with Will Kerslake, project director, saying `You want it to feel like it felt when you played the first time, but play like a modern game`.
- Amazon Game Studios is publishing the games and also develops the Sophie Turner‑led Prime Video series, while Crystal Dynamics said layoffs happened as recently as last month and the remake is managed by a different team.
- Sharing tech and daily meetings, Crystal Dynamics said teams share assets and meet daily with Amazon creatives to coordinate the Tomb Raider franchise continuity while Catalyst moves the timeline forward.
