The provisional results made public on 21 July by the National Independent Electoral Commission (CENI) show a clear victory for the presidential party, the Union for the Republic (UNIR), which largely dominates the local political landscape, with nearly 75% of the elected councillors, or 1,150 seats won out of the 1,527 to be filled.
