According to the latest annual report from the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) on the evolution of digital financial services in the WAEMU, the number of active electronic money accounts jumped by 76.87% between 2023 and 2024. This spectacular growth places the country among the most dynamic in the Union, although behind Niger and Guinea-Bissau.
