Video Shows Moment 2-Year-Old Boy Was Rescued From Hot Car
The child was rescued after bystanders and a deputy intervened, and officials warned that car temperatures can rise 20 degrees in 10 minutes.
Clark County deputies rescued a two-year-old child from a parked car in Vancouver during a recent incident, the Clark County Sheriff's Office reported.
Outside temperatures reached 92 degrees while the toddler remained in the vehicle for 16 minutes with the engine off and only a small rear window cracked open.
A Clark County deputy arrived to find the child still strapped into a car seat, while people nearby gathered to create shade while waiting for help.
Parents who were inside a nearby grocery store for nearly 30 minutes face reckless endangerment charges, and Child Protective Services was notified of the incident.
The National Weather Service advises the community to call 911 if they see children in distress, as vehicle temperatures can rise 20 degrees in 10 minutes.
