1-Year-Old Left Alone in Hot Truck Died While Dad Drank at Volusia Bar, Deputies Say
- On Friday, June 6, in Ormond Beach, Florida, Scott Allen Gardner left his 18-month-old son Sebastian in a hot truck for over three hours while he got a haircut and drank at Hanky Panky's Lounge.
- Gardner’s neglect resulted in his son Sebastian suffering heatstroke, with medical staff estimating the boy’s body temperature to have reached 111 degrees on a day when the outside temperature was 92 degrees. During the investigation, officials noted that Gardner provided several inconsistent statements about the incident.
- Police officers, including an Ormond Beach Police Department officer, attempted to revive Sebastian at the scene, but the toddler sadly died from being left helpless in the vehicle.
