Child euthanized in Netherlands’ assisted-dying program was just a baby
A terminally ill child who became the first to be euthanized in the Netherlands since a major change to the country’s assisted dying laws came into force was a 1-year-old baby, it has emerged.
A two-year-old child was subjected to euthanasia in December 2025 after the Dutch government reduced the age limit for assisted death, writes the British painting The Sun. It is the first known case in which a child under 12 years of age, who was not a infant, benefited from assisted death.
