- His legal team, led by former Nigerian Bar Association President Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, SAN, formally requested comprehensive investigations from the DSS, DIA, and Nigeria Police Force; Buba challenged accusers to provide credible evidence.
- Submissions were forwarded to the National Security Adviser, Chief of Defence Intelligence, Chief of Defence Staff, and Minister of Defence, while the former Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence chair suggested his past work was misrepresented.
- Proceedings against alleged smear campaign organizers are ongoing at the Federal High Court in Abuja, and Buba previously filed a petition seeking Interpol intervention on September 7, 2026, regarding suspected instigators.
