Scientists have found that large ungulates such as wild horses and bison effectively reduce the number of ticks in nature thanks to their natural grazing. In the Milovice reserve, there were up to 75 percent fewer ticks in grazed areas than in the surrounding, unmanaged vegetation. Ticks in the Czech Republic have been increasing in recent years due to climate change and are spreading to higher altitudes.
