Three Penn State defensive players are named to Bednarik Award watch list
CENTRE COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, AUG 11 – Dani Dennis-Sutton, Zane Durant, and A.J. Harris join 90 top defensive players nationally on the Bednarik Award watch list recognizing outstanding college football defenders.
- On Monday, the Maxwell Football Club released the Bednarik Award preseason watch list, naming Dani Dennis-Sutton, Zane Durant and A.J. Harris to the 90-player roster.
- Since its inception, the Bednarik Award has honored top defensive players annually since 1995, with Penn State alumni LaVar Arrington, Paul Posluszny, and Dan Connor among past winners, according to the Maxwell Football Club.
- Statistics show Dennis-Sutton accrued 42 tackles in 2024, including 13 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks, while Durant recorded 64 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss and six sacks.
- Ahead of the season, Penn State kicks off on Aug. 30 against Nevada at Westshore Home Field at Beaver Stadium, with semifinalists announced on Nov. 11.
- Ahead of next year, the Maxwell Football Club Awards will hold formal presentations on March 13, 2026, at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.
