Three dead after car strikes transport truck in northern New Brunswick: police
The sedan likely crossed the center line causing a fatal crash that killed three people, with the highway closed for 11 hours during the investigation.
- On Jan. 8, three people died after a head-on collision between a sedan and a transport truck on Highway 11 near Dalhousie, police say the car crossed the centreline.
- Police say investigators have not yet determined the crash cause, with a collision reconstructionist and the New Brunswick Coroner's office assisting while RCMP noted the road conditions were a little wet.
- Authorities said all three people in the sedan died at the scene, including the 25-year-old driver from Campbellton, the 27-year-old passenger from Moncton, and the 18-year-old passenger from Dalhousie, while the transport truck driver was treated and released.
- Highway 11 was closed between Exit 357 and Exit 375 after the crash at around 7:12 p.m. and reopened at 8 a.m. on Friday after about 11 hours, police say.
- Local emergency services, including the Belledune Fire Department and Ambulance New Brunswick, responded to the crash, and Rejean Richard lamented, `We would wish that it wouldn't happen so often`.
