Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is having severe consequences across the world. In Sudan, Africa, where nineteen million people face daily uncertainty about not having enough to eat amid a civil war, a forty percent drop in harvests is expected. Javid Abdelmoneim, president of the non-profit organization Doctors Without Borders, spoke to ČT24 about the world's largest humanitarian disaster. The interview was conducted by Jakub Szántó.
This is the largest humanitarian crisis in the world. Since 2023, two military leaders have waged a devastating war for the control of Sudan. Fourteen million people have been displaced by the fighting. Twenty million Sudanese are in a situation of acute hunger.
