Thieves steal three paintings from Renoir Museum on French Riviera
Thieves stole four Renoir works valued at about €9 million, and police say two were recovered after the suspects fled the museum.
- On Tuesday, thieves stole four Renoir paintings from the Renoir Museum in Cagnes-sur-Mer, abandoning two in the garden as they fled. Mayor Bryan Masson confirmed the theft at the historic home of painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir.
- The alarm system triggered at 5:48 a.m. local time, and police arrived five minutes later. Their swift response "forced the burglars to flee in haste and helped limit the scale of the theft," Masson said.
