Australian miner Thiess, which is 60% owned by Cimic, has won a three-year, US$1.5bn (A$2.3bn) contract extension to expand Jellinbah Group’s Lake Vermont coal mine near Dysart in Queensland’s Bowen Basin. Thiess (Cimic – ACS), a global supplier of mining services, has been awarded a contract extension of $2.3 billion in revenue over three years at Jellinbah Group’s Lake Vermont mine near Dysart in Queensland’s Bowen Basin. The new contract replaces Thiess’s current one, which expired in 2026, and includes an extension until June 2028.
