At the Council of Ministers on Wednesday 19 February, Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko announced the organization of archaeological excavations to know "the truth" about the number of African tirailers killed by French colonial forces during the massacre in Thiaroye, near Dakar, on 1 December 1944, when they claimed their pay.
