Mayor Says 3 Officers Were Wounded and a Person Is Dead After a Shooting in Lorain, Ohio
LORAIN, OHIO, JUL 25 – The ambush involved a suspect armed with multiple high-powered rifles and explosives, killing one officer and critically injuring two, authorities said.
- Early Wednesday, a lone gunman ambushed three Lorain police officers at Colorado Avenue Industrial Park in Lorain, Ohio, and was killed at the scene.
- “This was a deliberate and planned ambush,” said Elyria Police Chief James Welsh, noting the gunman positioned nearby with weapons before firing on officers eating lunch.
- According to Jack Bradley, two officers were life-flighted to a Cleveland trauma center in critical condition, and a third was treated locally at Mercy Health – Lorain.
- Amid a massive manhunt, with no additional suspects located, Elyria police said,
