Rescue workers from East Iceland assisted tourists who were stranded on Búlandstindri last night. There was considerable preparation at first when it was thought that specialized mountain rescue workers were needed, but in the end, it turned out that there was no need for them.
Rescue teams from all over East Iceland, from Höfn in Hornafjörður to Neskaupstaður, were called out after hikers got stuck on Búlandstindri yesterday. The emergency line received a request for help from the people last night. They were hiking on Búlandstindri above Djúpavogur yesterday morning and planned to be back down the mountain between 1 and 2 p.m. As of 8 p.m., they were still on the mountain and did not think they could get any further.…
