Naco, Son., The Attorney General's Office of the Republic (FGR) opened an investigation into the spillage of about 59,000 litres of sodium hydrosulfide (corrosive chemical compound used in industrial processes, such as copper mining) in the municipality of Naco, caused by the derailment of several wagons from a Ferromex freight train, subsidiary of Grupo Mexico.
The accident left no injured persons and, according to the first assessments, the spill did not pose an immediate risk to the nearby population.
The authorities maintain an operation to control the leak and ensure the safety of users.
