Beyond the Pretzels, These Airlines Stand Out for Food and Drinks
A survey of 556 experienced travelers found Emirates, Air France and Delta lead in meals, wine, coffee and snacks, while Centurion Lounges topped airport dining.
Travel rewards platform point.me surveyed 556 experienced travelers on in-flight dining, ranking Emirates first for business-class meals and cocktails, Air France for wine selection, and Delta Air Lines for domestic coffee and high-protein snacks.
Travelers increasingly view onboard dining as part of their vacation experience, according to Adam Morvitz, CEO and founder of point.me. More passengers now choose airlines and airport lounges based on menu quality rather than convenience alone.
Air France's wine pours exceeded Emirates' by more than double, prompting Jimmy Yoon, Head of Points Intelligence at point.me, to praise the airline's heritage focus. Virgin Atlantic's 787 Upper Class onboard bar topped cocktail rankings, while American Express Centurion Lounges earned best airport dining honors.
Points and miles programs now unlock premium dining access for travelers, with Morvitz stating they "can mean the difference between sitting in economy with a bag of pretzels and truly starting the trip from the moment you board."
Delta Air Lines excelled in high-protein snacks favored by GLP-1 medication users, reflecting evolving passenger health preferences. Survey respondents overwhelmingly rejected tuna sandwiches, hard-boiled eggs and soup as carry-on foods, signaling consideration for fellow passengers in close quarters.
