The U.S. Navy has signed the largest shipbuilding contract in its history to strengthen its nuclear submarine fleet. The agreement, worth approximately $76.6 billion, will produce a total of 14 submarines: nine Virginia-class attack submarines and five Columbia-class ballistic missile submarines.
