The Virginia Beach Oceanfront is shrinking, complicating summer plans

Officials warn that coastal erosion and halted sand pumping threaten major events generating up to $15 million annually in tax revenue at Virginia Beach Oceanfront.

After the Army Corps of Engineers halted the pumping of dredged sand onto the beach last April, and coastal storms continued to erode the shoreline, organizers of summer concerts and sports tournaments held on the sand have had to rework their footprints.
