The US has removed Venezuela from its list of countries failing to combat drug trafficking after more than 20 years. Trump said Colombia could also be taken off the list if it shows stronger action on coca eradication and narcoterror networks.

BOGOTA, Sept 16 - The United States has removed Venezuela from its list of countries which have failed to demonstrably combat illegal drug trafficking for the first time in more than 20 years, U.S. President Donald Trump said in a statement on Wednesday, adding he may consider removing neigboring Colombia. The U.S. president excludes the Latin American nation from the blacklist of narcotics trafficking, although he keeps it in the register of countries transiting illicit drugs.
But it keeps the country among the "principal countries of transit or illicit drug production"
