The US has record-breaking year at the world’s largest wine awards
The awards judged more than 17,000 wines from 58 countries, with the United States earning two Best in Show honors and 32 gold medals.
On Wednesday, France secured 254 top-tier awards to lead the 2026 Decanter World Wine Awards, while the United States achieved its strongest-ever performance with 466 total awards, including two Best in Show honors.
Nearly 250 judges evaluated more than 17,000 wines from 58 countries during a rigorous two-week process in London, continuing a competition that began 23 years ago.
Domaine Serene's 'Aspect' from Oregon secured a Best in Show award, a 100% pinot noir aged for 16 months in French oak barrels.
Texas achieved a landmark year with its first-ever Gold medals, including recognition for Spicewood Vineyards, while Virginia and Pennsylvania also secured top honors.
Judge Pierre Mansour noted that great wines are coming from every corner of the world, making regions like Texas or Essex increasingly attractive to wine enthusiasts in the evolving 2026 landscape.
