Bahattin Akkayaoğlu, a mine worker who has been protesting in front of the Ministry in Ankara for 13 days over unpaid wages from Doruk Mining, lost his two sons in a mine collapse at the Çayırhan Mine. Akkayaoğlu explained that the collapse occurred as one son was about to leave the mine and the other had just entered, adding, "If I hadn't been able to reach my children, I would have left."
