Sudan's military says it took full control of Greater Khartoum region that includes the capital

Sudan’s military says it has taken full control of Greater Khartoum. Brig. Gen. Nabil Abdullah, a spokesman for the Sudanese military, said forces retook the region that includes the capital city of Khartoum and its sister cities Omdurman and Khartoum North, or Bahri.

The troops of General Abdel Fattah Al-Bourhane, the de facto leader of the country, announced on Tuesday that they had dislodged the rebels of the Rapid Support Forces from their last positions in Omdourman, the twin city of the capital, during a "large-scale operation".

Sudan's army has completely driven out the rebels of the paramilitary RSF from the country's capital area, the military says. "Khartoum state is completely free of rebels," spokesman Nabil Abdallah said in a statement.

The Sudan Army said Tuesday that it took full control of the Greater Khartoum region after a prolonged battle against the remnants of a paramilitary group in the west and south of the region.

The Sudanese army declared that the entire state of Khartoum had been completely cleared of any presence of rapid support elements, affirming that the state was completely free of insurgents.
