Star Wars Announces 50th Anniversary Exhibition in 2027
The 18,000-square-foot exhibit will feature more than 70 artifacts, including screen-used props from Lucasfilm archives.
The Franklin Institute will open "Star Wars: The Experience" on Feb. 13, 2027, in Philadelphia, marking the world premiere of an 18,000-square-foot exhibition celebrating the franchise's 50th anniversary.
Developed over four years alongside Lucasfilm, Disney Consumer Products, and design agency MDSX, the exhibition honors the franchise's filmmaking innovations and cultural impact since its 1977 debut.
Spanning 18,000 square feet, the exhibit features more than 70 artifacts from the Lucasfilm archives, including Darth Vader's costume and Darth Maul's lightsaber, alongside an RFID-powered experience personalizing each visitor's journey.
Philadelphia will be the only place to see the exhibit first before it embarks on a five-year North American tour after closing on September 6, 2027.
Additional details and first renderings will be revealed at a San Diego Comic-Con panel on July 24, 2026, while public ticket sales are scheduled to begin in November.
