Jeremy Strong Plays Mark Zuckerberg in 'The Social Reckoning'
The teaser shows Jeremy Strong as Mark Zuckerberg and Mikey Madison as Frances Haugen in a drama about Meta’s internal document leak.
On Wednesday, Sony Pictures released the first trailer for "The Social Reckoning," a sequel to the 2010 drama "The Social Network" featuring Jeremy Strong as Mark Zuckerberg. Screenwriter Aaron Sorkin returns as writer and director.
The narrative focuses on the 2021 Facebook leak by whistleblower Frances Haugen, played by Mikey Madison, as she exposes the platform's secrets. Haugen enlists Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz, portrayed by Jeremy Allen White.
Strong adopts a "flat affectation" to portray Zuckerberg, describing himself as a "professional defendant." In the trailer, the Meta CEO declares, "People understand that when I say no, that's the end of the debate."
Supporting cast members Bill Burr and Wunmi Mosaku play aides preparing Zuckerberg for Congress. Sorkin describes the narrative as "a real David and Goliath story" involving the "Mafia" as an antagonist.
Sony opens the film theatrically on October 9. Sorkin explained that Facebook's influence "has reshaped everything," motivating him to explore the platform's evolution since the original 2010 corporate drama.
