Heavy downpours that swept across southern Poland last weekend led to localized flooding, traffic disruptions, and the need for a flood alert. Low-pressure waters, Boris, have descended on the country, bringing extreme rainfall the likes of which have not been seen in months.
The infrastructure situation is stable, and all roads are passable, assured Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Piotr Malepszak. During a crisis management meeting held at the Ministry of Interior and Administration headquarters, the authorities assured that the situation was under control, but the services were constantly monitoring the weather in Poland. Warnings for storms and heavy rain remain in effect across the country.
Heavy rainfall has led to flooding and inundation in many parts of the country. On Monday morning, Minister of Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwiński commented on the situation, admitting that in some places "the situation is truly difficult." He assured that all services are ready to "take the most radical measures if necessary."
250 fire department interventions in Małopolska alone, and over 2,000 soldiers deployed to assist in areas where heavy rain has been falling for several hours. Heavy rain warnings are in effect in Poland due to the Genoese low.
