Unexperienced in politics, Demba Traoré (DVG) won the municipal elections in Blanc-Mesnil over Senator Thierry Meignen (LR), to the general surprise. He promised, in particular, to commit himself fully to the working-class neighbourhoods, which, according to him, had been abandoned by his opponent.
In this popular city of Seine-Saint-Denis, the new 40-year-old mayor, uncarved and propelled leader of a left-wing coalition, won the election after the twelve years of reign of a right-wing party close to Eric Zemmour.
Battu in the second round of municipal elections in Blanc-Mesnil (Seine-Saint-Denis), where he was mayor since 2014, Senator LR denounces "major irregularities" that would have allowed the left-wing coalition to win.
