Director Zdeněk Tyc returned to Karovy Vary with a film 13 years after his last film Jako nikdy. He tried to make the new film Město otců for ten years, but he kept changing producers until the couple Pavel and Eva Váchal came along with the production Bratři. "Filming was a joy, thanks to Zdeněk, who managed it with us," said producer Pavel Vácha.
