A new judicial information was opened on Wednesday 19 August in the case of Le Scouarnec. It concerns 10 new rapes and 40 sexual assaults involving the former surgeon who had already been convicted in May 2025.
New complaints lodged after the trial of Joël Le Scouarnec led to the opening of judicial information concerning events that occurred over three decades.
The facts are not prescribed and "concerns 48 victims", said the Lorient prosecutor on Wednesday. Joël Le Scouarnec was sentenced in late May 2025 to 20 years in prison for rape and sexual assault on 299 minors.
