Google's New Model Turns Sign Language Into Text for Web Searches
Google says the feature uses a sign-language-to-text model and supports American Sign Language only, with 100,000 hours of training data.

- Google's new sign-language-to-text translation model powers this feature, trained on over 100,000 hours of data spanning more than 50 languages, with about one-quarter from ASL.
- The translation software supports streaming input in Gboard and Live Transcribe, allowing users to sign responses. Google optimized the technology for one-handed signing, recognizing users often hold the phone while communicating.
- Pre-Orders opened on Wednesday, August 12, with general availability beginning August 20. T-Mobile and AT&T are offering promotional trade-in deals, including free devices with service commitments.
