- Communities Secretary Angela Rayner suggested a wider donation cap remains under consideration, aiming to prevent individuals from "being able to overpower and buy their way into democracy." A Cabinet minister told the TUC Congress the donors' motives were transparent.
- Party chairman Lee Anderson suggested a Reform government would block union donations to the Labour Party if the £72m windfall is restricted. Reform has already used the funding to hire 400 new field agents and double its policy team to 20.
