Last year, 16,403 fines were imposed in the Brussels Region on motorists travelling in an overly polluting vehicle in the low-emission zone (LEZ). This is a reduction of half of the record year 2023, during which nearly 30,000 drivers were punished. If the number of fines dropped, they still brought the Brussels government 5.74 million euros.
