A decree published this week modifies the calculation of the energy performance diagnosis, as early as 2027, for electrically heated dwellings, which will bring many dwellings out of the status of thermal passory.
As of 1 January 2027, a decree is planned to improve the energy performance diagnosis for electric heating, which will reduce the number of dwellings subject to rent freezes and rental bans, and may slow down the renovation effort.
The coefficient measuring the consumption of electricity in dwellings will be further reduced by 1 January 2027. Many dwellings, though so far regarded as thermal coffers, will no longer be reduced, even if no renovation has been carried out.
While France was still in the midst of a heatwave, the Minister for Ecological Transition and the Minister for Housing signed a decree on August 19th that will remove approximately 300,000 homes from the status of energy inefficient buildings.
