With Three Months Late, the List of Jobs Under Stress Is Finally Updated

This list lists the 80 or so occupations in need of labour, which allow foreign workers to qualify for a residence permit.

New regulations on the employment of foreigners will come into effect in June. Lists of professions in which foreigners cannot be employed will be created.

"Employers must fulfill as many conditions as the Aliens Act prescribes. Primarily, they must have a Croatian citizen employed full-time for a continuous period of 12 months, they must perform economic activity, have turnover, and they must not be on the so-called black list of employers with undeclared work," says Ivana Šimek from the Croatian Employment Service.

The latest version dates back to 2021. After several postponements, the updated list of occupations in tension was finally published in the official newspaper on Thursday. It is intended to regularize foreign workers in sectors that struggle to recruit.
