- Amid rising crime figures, Trump warned on Truth Social that if D.C. “doesn’t get its act together,” he would take federal control, and homeless people must move “far” away.
- According to Metro Transit Police, two people were taken into custody and two firearms recovered during Sunday just after midnight, as at least 30 federal officers were in the neighborhood, the Deanwood community reports.
- Further steps, including taking over the police department, would require a declaration of emergency and a congressional repeal of the Home Rule Act of 1973.
- Ahead of any federal takeover, Fox News contributor Ted Williams called it troubling, and ANC Commissioner Anthony Lorenzo Green criticized overreach and urged respect for home rule.
