A rare manuscript of music for flute and harp written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart as a 22-year-old tutor to an aristocratic French student will be performed in public for the first time tonight, after a curator at the National Library of France discovered the manuscript.
A French duke had 22-year-old Mozart teach his daughter to compose.
An unknown piece of the famous composer was discovered in Paris: he had composed it in 1778 for a harpist whom he venerated, but love soon left him.
Found in February and authenticated in April, they will be presented and played at the National Library of Paris
Rare Mozart manuscript discovered by French curator
A treasure has been found in France's national library: a notebook containing unpublished compositions signed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart from the time when he was giving music lessons. The pieces will be performed for the first time in public by two musicians from the Radio France France philharmonic orchestra as part of France's Fête de la Musique, a day dedicated to music which takes place every year on June 21.
