Eighty years ago (July 10, 1946), the Czech-Soviet agreement on the option and resettlement of Volhynia Czechs was signed in Moscow. It allowed citizens of Czech and Slovak nationality living in the territory of the former Volhynia Governorate in the Soviet Union to resettle in Czechoslovakia, and at the same time gave Czechoslovak citizens of Ukrainian, Russian and Belarusian nationality the opportunity to leave for the Soviet Union.
