Latvia plans to ban regular and occasional international bus passenger transport to Russia and Belarus, as well as transit through Latvian territory to these countries, from 2027. This is envisaged in a draft amendment to the Road Transport Act, which was prepared by the Ministry of Transport and submitted to the government for discussion.
The Ministry of Communication (also the Ministry of Transport) of Latvia proposes the final destruction of bus lines with Russia and Belarus, a press release published on the official website of the agency. On 7 October last year, the Government has already supported the proposal of the Ministry of Communications to ban from 1 November 2025 to 31 December 2026 "unregular" passenger transport to Russia and the Russian Federation.
