The Liberals increased in the parliamentary elections. But in all regions the party is falling, as well as in most municipalities. – It is a lesson for us, says party secretary Fredrik Brange.
For the Liberals, it was an evening of joy. At the national level, the party has long been below the parliamentary threshold in opinion polls, but made an electoral spurt that took them to, at the time of writing, 5.4 percent. “Heroic,” says Johann Wischer Sjöberg, the party’s first name in Enköping.
The disappointment is great among the Liberals, who are leaving the regional council. The Green Party, who are making their way back into the regional council, is all the more cheerful. “This was not the result we had expected,” says the Liberals’ first name Peter Johanson.
In the last election, the Green Party was eliminated from the regional council. But now they seem to be making a comeback. “It means a lot to us,” says Ute Attermeyer, the first name.
The Green Party looks set to enter 9 of the 13 regions where they have been without a mandate since at least 2022. The Liberals are retreating in all regions except Gotland.
