Despite the validity of the Law for the Protection, Safety, Integration, Well-being and Comprehensive Development of People with Autism Spectrum Disorders (Law 163 of 2024), aimed at improving services, opportunities and quality of life for this population, it is estimated that between 5% and 10% of adults with this diagnosis are employed, which implies an unemployment rate of 76% to 90%, according to data from the Autism Alliance of Puerto Rico.
